The public is invited to step into a free, one-of-a-kind, interactive art and culinary exhibit “Los Sabores de mi México,” presented by the Mexican soft drink brand Jarritos. In it, Frida Kahlo’s kitchen is brought to life in the heart of New York City.

“Although she wasn’t fully appreciated during her lifetime, Frida Kahlo is now one of the most celebrated women artists in the world, and a new four-day event at Grand Central Terminal aims to celebrate her legacy in an unconventional way,” TimeOut writes.

The cultural event takes place April 4 to 7 at Vanderbilt Hall in the iconic Grand Central Terminal.

“It’s a great honor to share a part of our heritage, of our family’s history with the world,” Mara Romeo Kahlo, Frida Kahlo’s grandniece, says. “We believe that the kitchen is the richest part of a home, and we’re bringing a book of art and pieces of that time to share Frida in a very simple, everyday and fun way … “

The centerpiece of the 4-day immersive experience is a replica of Kahlo family home.

A new cookbook featuring Kahlo’s cherished family recipes will also be debuted — a culinary and cultural treasure trove for both cooking enthusiasts and Kahlo’s fans alike.

“This book connects us with the woman, with the family,” Chef Mónica Patiño says. “With that everyday life, what was eaten at Frida’s house, her handwritten recipes … Frida in Coyoacán was always well connected with the Mexican kitchen that is still alive … “

Accompanying the culinary treats are previously unseen photographs of the Kahlo family, offering visitors a rare glimpse into the personal and artistic milieu of this Mexican icon.

“Open to all ages, the exhibition will include ‘10 Monumental Fridas,’ works of art created by some of Mexico’s talented artists of today, and feature a ‘Pinta Tu Frida’ workshop for young visitors, where they can paint miniature replicas of the Frida sculptures,” CityGuideNY writes.
