What We Know So Far
The film, reportedly in pre-production, is set to delve into the life and musical journey of Ronstadt, a prolific Mexican American singer whose impact resonates across decades.
“Grammy Award-winning singer Ronstadt is best known for her work in the rock and country industry, releasing 24 albums across her career and working with the likes of Dolly Parton, Bette Midler, Frank Zappa, and Johnny Cash,” Yahoo News writes.
The project is backed by Ronstadt’s manager, John Boylan, and James Keach, known for directing the 2022 documentary short “Linda and the Mockingbirds.” Additionally, Keach produced the acclaimed 2019 documentary “Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice,” which won the Best Music Film award at the 2021 Grammys.
In 2009, Ronstadt graced the stage for her final performance. A mere two years later, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer declared her retirement.
In 2012, she received a Parkinson’s disease diagnosis, shedding light on the cause behind her diminishing ability to sing.
However, in 2019, Ronstadt discovered that her ailment was, in fact, progressive supranuclear palsy – a “rare neurological disorder affecting body movements, walking and balance, and eye movements” according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke
“Singing is really complex. And I was made most aware of it by having it vanish. I can still sing in my mind but I can’t do it physically,” she says in her 2019 documentary.
Recently Gomez has been showcasing her acting prowess in Hulu’s hit murder mystery series “Only Murders in the Building.” The show has garnered immense popularity, leading to its renewal for a fourth season.
