Singer Becky G was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song for “The Fire Inside” from the movie “Flamin’ Hot.” And she’s thrilled.
The the 26-year-old singer, whose full name is Rebbecca Marie Gomez, quickly went viral on social media with her heartfelt and candid reaction to the news of the nomination.
“Becky G got emotional … after learning Flamin’ Hot’s ‘The Fire Inside’ received an original song Oscar nomination,” Rolling Stone magazine reports. “The Mexican-American artist, dressed in a Taylor Swift The Eras Tour crewneck, fought back tears in an Instagram video, as she expressed her gratitude for working on the film alongside its talented crew.”
In the viral Instagram reel, viewed almost 2 million times in 24 hours, the singer appears shocked, thankful, and ecstatic, all at once.

“We’re nominated, guys, for an Oscar,” she says to her millions of followers. “And I just want to say thank you so much to Diane and to Eva for allowing me to be a part of this beautiful project.”
Over 2,000 fans have commented on her heartfelt post, including Actress and Director Eva Longoria.
“We love you!! Thank YOU for lending us your beautiful voice! And for showing the world what a chingona looks like and sounds like! 🔥” Longoria writes.
Diane Warren, a Grammy, Emmy, and two-time Golden Globe award-winning songwriter, who wrote the nominated song also chimes in.

Becky G’s Trailblazing Career
Becky G started her career as a child actor at the age of nine and later transitioned to music with English-language hits like “Shower” in 2014. She’s a pop and reggaeton sensation, creating a bilingual discography that has won her fans all over the world.
Her hit collaboration with Colombian Singer Karol G – “MAMIII” – broke records in 2022 when the song became the first all-female Latina duet to reach the Top 10 on the Global Spotify Chart. It also reached No. 1 on Pandora Radio charts and Apple Music Mexico.

Dreams Coming True
“Flamin’ Hot,” a comedy-drama directed by Longoria, tells the true story of Richard Montañez, the janitor who went on to create the top-selling Cheeto flavor.
The movie’s soundtrack features “The Fire Inside,” which is a powerful and emotional song that showcases Becky G’s vocal range and talent.
“This film, this team, this song represents something so close to my heart. It is my heart,” Becky G explains on her social media, adding: “This is literally one of my dreams coming true.”
“The Fire Inside” is up against American Symphony’s “It Never Went Away,” Killers of the Flower Moon’s “Wahzhazhe,” along with two Barbie hits “I’m Just Ken” and “What Was I Made For?”
The Oscars will take place on March 10, and will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
