Sergio Manancero, the founder of Doña Chela brewery, is one of those Latinos who contribute to the economy while breaking barriers.
Latino entrepreneurs are a tremendous economic force in the United States. In 2015, they represented 17 percent of the U.S. population; by 2050, they will be 29 percent. This accelerated growth of Latino-owned businesses could add $1.4 trillion to the economy. That would account for nearly 8 percent of the $18 trillion U.S. economy.
In 2016, Manancero opened Doña Chela Cervecería in Minneapolis, the first Latino-influenced brewery in Minnesota. Manancero sought to integrate the culture of his parents, originally from Uruguay, and the beer culture of Minneapolis.
A Brewery For The Community
Doña Cervecería’s mission is to introduce a more diverse audience to the craft beer scene. In addition, to socially and economically support the Latino community in Minnesota.
The brewery seeks to inspire and empower the Twin Cities’ Latino community. It has a space where it features art by emerging Latino artists, providing them with a space where they can reach a larger audience.
Besides, Doña Chela has its entertainment space, where you can dance to salsa music or watch a soccer game. You will have the opportunity to taste a wide variety of beers, including some variants and infusions of the Doña Fría, the best seller of the local, which is a “Viennese Lager with cornflakes. Subtle notes of toffee, caramel, and corn with a hint of cascading hop aromas.”
Latino gastronomy is also present, always varied and rich. Quesadillas, Tacos, yucca, and the always famous Tres Leches dessert, are never missing from their menu.
